7 Things Only Readers Do

Okay, let’s be honest here. If you are anything like you get overly excited about books. You have your own little place where you can cuddle up with a blanket, a cup of tea and a good book. You spend so much time reading you miss breakfast/lunch/dinner and anything in between. I am here to share with you 6 things almost all readers do. Especially if you’re anything like me.

  1. Reorganizing your bookshelf

Now, unfortunately at this time I do not have a plethora of bookshelves lined across my walls. I do however have a book case and two small baskets that “holds” all my books. (and by holds, I mean it’s overflowing with books galore.) I can’t tell you how many times I have set up my bookcase and a week later I change it again. It’s been organized by author, color, stand alone and series, alphabetical by author and/or title. I know I’m crazy, but reorganizing your shelf is all part of the fun! If your books look good you’re more likely to read them. At least that’s what I tell myself.

  1. Can’t leave the house without one

I can’t speak for everyone when I say that social gatherings aren’t necessarily my thing. OF course, in some situations I am required to participate, but if I get a chance I will bring a book with me. I bought a backpack specifically to carry my books “in case of emergencies,” which is 90% of the time. I was travelling from Connecticut to New York via train and I brought 3 books with me because you never know. Am I, right? OF course, my goal is to meet someone in a bookstore or a train and have an instant best friend. #bookbuddies

  1. Falling Asleep

Okay, so this one is a funny story and hopefully relatable. I was reading Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover and oh my goodness. I could not put the book down. It was as if it was glued to my hands. I told myself that I would only read up to chapter 12. I could tell my eyes were getting heavy, but I was not going to give in. The next minute a book slams me in the face shooting me awake. I didn’t even realise I fell asleep. Let’s just say that chapter 12 was not finished that night.

  1. Perfect Condition

My books are my prized possession. I take joy in the fact that I have so many, but no matter what do not ask me if you could borrow one. I don’t want anyone else touching my books. The binding gets all ripped and then I don’t like the way they look. One time I let my sister borrow The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and I let her keep because it was destroyed by the time she gave it back to me. Call me crazy. It won’t be the first time I have heard it when it comes to my books.

  1. Ereader

For the longest time I was against ereaders. I didn’t see the point when I could bring my books with me (like mentioned before). I soon realised that my books were getting destroyed and like I mentioned before I am not a big fan of that. I decided to invest in an ereader and although it does not give me the same effect as an actual book it is very convenient.  Especially, when I am in school I can put it in my backpack and always have something to read.

  1. Writing

From my love of reading I have gained a new love for writing. One day it just clicked and I started reading. Now, I’m not saying I’m anywhere near Colleen Hoover or John Green, but writing has become a huge part of my life. I have a notebook full of story ideas that is overflowing with notes and post its. I have multiple stories saved in my laptop. I should probably buckle down on one, but I get so excited about starting a new one I can’t control it.

  1. Life Dreams

Overall, reading has been a huge part of my life for a long time. It has heightened my imagination and creativity. I hope to one day have my own work published. It’ll take a lot of hard work, but I am ready and willing. When I get my own house I will have an entire room dedicated to books. A readers dream. These will take time, but I can’t wait for that day.

Now, please enjoy my top 10 favorite books,

(it was very hard not writing all of my books down)

  1. To all the boys I’ve loved before Jenny Han (series)
  2. The summer I turned pretty Jenny Han (series)

  1. I loved this post! I always take multiple books with me when I go out somewhere, and I’m not a big fan of e-readers either (although they are handy when I go on holiday and want to take loads of books but don’t have space in my suitcase!) It’s my dream to one day have a house with a room that I can turn into my own personal library 🙂
